To all those EXO-Ls and Reveluvs, what an exciting day it is that we finally talk about Exo and red velvet!!

Both of these groups are formed by SM Entertainment and debuted after 2010 making this the first post to talk about this decade of artists.

EXO

We’ve all heard of prodigies in our lives. Ever seen a group of prodigies who come together to form a prodigal group??…… Meet Exo.

Exo is the start of the new generation idols, the super famous, super-fast, super talented and just super everything.

With the group debuting with 12 members split into Exo-k and Exo-m as they promoted in both Korean and Chinese markets. The members were Suho, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, and Sehun in Exo-k and Xiumin, Lay, Chen, Kris, Luhan, and Two in Exo-m. They became a 9 member group after the exit of members Kris, Luhan, and Tao due to a legal battle between these members and SM. The group promoted as 9 for a while became 8 (only while promotion) due to the busy schedule of the group member lay, as he debuted as a solo artist in the Chinese industry. The group produced 2 more albums as an 8 member group ( lay was in the MVs). In 2019, 2 members (xiumin and D.O) enlisted for the mandatory military service so the newest album which came in November 2019 is promoted as a 6 member group.

Their first album, literally, sold 1 million copies making them the first-ever rookie group to sell that many albums. Well, the alum had ‘growl’ which still is one of Exo’s greatest songs.

In simple words, exo can be described as a group that achieved success at a very early stage and kept maintaining its success for years producing literally life-changing songs.

They were literally in the top of sales for years before bts took over and still it is a close competition between both the groups.

Red Velvet

Red velvet is a 5 member girl group from SM who debuted in 2014. They are sought out as one of the greatest girl groups with amazing record sales and great music. I mean they rewrote the legend of catchy music. Have you ever heard ‘dumb dumb’? My brain literally has this song running in the back of my mind.

The members Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy first debuted with their single ep happiness in 2014. The 5th member Yeri was added to the group in 2015 and since then they rock the industry with their iconic music. Every song of theirs was a hit and by hit, I mean at least 200M views on YouTube. I emphasis the at least as it is the least number of views they have seen. And their record sales!!

Want to Stan this amazing, beautiful, pretty, exotic group you can start with songs that the whole K-pop industry sung with red velvet aka ‘Ice cream cake’ and ‘ dumb dumb’ or you can go with mega-hits like “Russian roulette”, “red flavour”, or my personal favourite ” bad boy”. You will thank me later for this introduction.
