Stefon Harris is an American jazz musiciaš·āØn who’s native was Albany, New Yorkš½. Harris intended to work for the New York Philharmonic until he heard the music ofĀ Charlie Parker. During the 1990s he recorded withCharlie HunterĀ Ā and Steve TurreĀ Ā as a session musician. He signed withBlue NoteĀ , which released his debut album,Ā Ā A Cloud of Red Dust(1998). His second album,Ā Black Action Figure was nominated for a Grammy Award.
In 2001 he worked with pianist Jacky TerrassonĀ Ā at the Village Vanguard in New York City and recorded the albumĀ kindred with him during the same year. His albumĀ The grand unification theory (2003) won the Martin E. Segal Award fromĀ jazz at Lincoln Center. In April 2009, he headlined at theĀ Orange county performing arts center in Orange County, California. His recent works include-song of Samson, chasin Kendall, throw it away, let’s take a trip to the sky, the cape Verdean blues etc.
